Stockholm Environment Institute – Communications

The Stockholm Environment Institute is an international non-profit research organization that has worked with environment and development issues from local to global policy levels for a quarter of a century. SEI works to shift policy and practice towards sustainability.

Internship assignment (work tasks):

As a member of the communications team, the intern will support on  3-4 research projects at SEI as well as support with SEI-wide communication activities.

Together with communication officers at SEI, the intern will work on delivering communication outputs and materials. These outputs include for example: writing news stories and blogs about research progress and results, updating the SEI website, social media updates (Twitter), videos/podcasts with project stakeholders and events.

These inputs will be overseen by the responsible communication officers that are assigned to the projects and will be guiding the intern through the work. The intern will attend all communication meetings and trainings. The Head of Unit, Project Partnering (in Communications Team) will have overall responsibility for the intern mentoring.

Length and start date of the internship:

Fall semester 2018, starting date end August/early September

Desirable skills/experience:

We are looking for a person who has a Communications university education with a broad knowledge of communication channels. Experience writing for the web including social media, text, photo and video editing. The intern is a near-native English speaker with a good command of the Swedish language. Written and spoken. The intern has a natural ability to coordinate and drive tasks forward, and transform scientific information into messages for a broader public audience.

The communications department consists of 12 people split into two teams: Project Partnering and Corporate Communications. The intern would sit within the Project Partnering team, practically working with communication products for research projects. Corporate Communications work with research publication editing, overall SEI branding and website content.

Praktiken ingår i FUF:s Praktikantprogram. Det innebär att parallellt med praktiken går praktikanten på olika kurser som FUF arrangerar. Detta sker på på praktikarbetstid och är avtalat med praktikplatsen. Moment som ingår är bl.a. en skräddarsydd förberedelsekurs, nätverksträffar och karriärstips. Läs mer om programmet HÄR.

För att söka praktiken måste du vara inskriven som student vid svenskt universitet/högskola och läsa en 30 hp praktikkurs. Du ska kunna tillgodoräkna dig praktiken som högskolepoäng och vara försäkrad genom universitetet/högskolan. Praktiken är obetald och platsen går endast att söka via FUF.
