The world is in turmoil. A number of important challenges are developing in our midst: political changes such as Brexit and a new administration in the US; conflicts such as the ones in Syria and South Sudan; and people fleeing from natural catastrophes caused by climate change. All countries in the world have to adjust and adapt to this new situation. This is often discussed with particular emphasis on Europe, but less from the point of view of Africa.
How is Africa and its different regions influenced politically, socially, economically and environmentally by these changes? Professor Fantu Cheru, a leading African political scientist, will take us through possible options available for the continent to navigate through this uncertain and turbulent political order.
